My First World Problem and I

Author’s Note: The following is essentially a 200 word vomit on how extraordinarily ungrateful I am for my over-privileged life. Plus its full of GIFs… Indulge me for a single post, will you?

Why, oh why do the powers that be insist on releasing so many films? How can any normal person see them all? I’d like to think that it’s not unreasonable to want to work, want to sleep and want to, you know, have a life?

Anyone feel sorry for me yet?

Anywhooo, the “problem” I am so eloquently referring to is one of time. Specifically my utter lack of it. Because during the two week period from 10th February – 24th February, the following films will be released in U.K. Cinemas.

  • Hidden Figures
  • Fences
  • The Founder
  • Across The Waters
  • 20th Century Women
  • John Wick: Chapter Two
  • Moonlight
  • Fifty Shades Darker
  • Kung Fu Yoga
  • Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk
  • The Space Between Us
  • Prevenge
  • Tanna
  • The LEGO Batman Movie
  • The Great Wall

And that’s just the films I want to watch! There’s another 6 new films being released in addition to the above mentioned ones.

Arrrrgh! How can anyone decide what to watch in this extravaganza of cinematic delights?

Some of these films are in such similar categories that it is legitimately baffling that studios think their film can even be slightly successful. Do none of these studios want to make money?

But I won’t stop trying world! I will watch every single one of them!

Or I could, you know, act like a normal person.

*Sigh* Until next time, my fellow film fanatics.

  1. This sure is a first world problem, but it’s one in the best way possible. If you want to cut down on your backlog, I suggest you start weeding out the films that you don’t absolutely 100% want to see. Decisiveness is the key.

  2. Aw man. To be honest, a few of those (like The Wall and The Space Between Us) could probably be delayed for a rental or stream later. And you can watch Fifty Shades Darker online (you know what I mean). Also, I saw Moonlight and, well, maybe I was expecting too much but I found it very sort of underwhelming. It didn’t really grip me. Hope you have a better experience of watching it (cause you know you’re going to watch Moonlight, there’s way too much good buzz about it).
